Thank you to all who supported Rooted in Community, the South Peninsula Hospital Foundation's event last weekend.
With your help we raised over $250,000 to support the purchase of a new mammography machine at South Peninsula Hospital, far exceeding our goal for the evening. From ticket buyers and donors, to sponsors and volunteers, it was a team effort to reach and exceed our goal. It was a beautiful room filled with generous donors, a cause that matters, fabulous food and a spectacular display by mother nature … it was truly an evening rooted in community.
MAKE A LASTING IMPACT
The proceeds from Rooted in Community will make a lasting impact in the lives of our community members through the purchase of a new, state-of-the-art mammography machine at South Peninsula Hospital.
1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer. With breast cancer, the data are unequivocal: early detection saves lives.
SPH's current mammography machine has provided more than 10,000 life-saving cancer screenings over more than a decade. And now it's time for it to retire.
The new machine will:
- Be AI-enabled, providing faster and lower-dose mammograms, and higher resolution images
- Be equipped to perform contrast-enhanced mammography, a critical modality to find hard-to-detect cancers
- Have special tools to evaluate breast density, which can affect cancer detection and risk
Help make a lasting impact on the health of your neighbors. Please consider making a donation to the South Peninsula Hospital Foundation.
